in tokyo, this is not an oddity. there are many private rooftop ranges, and hundreds of vast multi-deck public ranges. many of the golfers will never play a round on grass.

karuizawa

karuizawa is a ski resort, but also a popular wedding destination. this is a wedding boutique. i don't think i need to make any comments here.






and this is how we left karuizawa, quickly. three days previously, a train worker stood in front of one going at speed, and v+w were caught in the ensuing schedule chaos. there are pictures of the resulting nose cone damage posted in the local papers, but i won't link them here.






there's something a little bit strange about seeing two trains on top of each other, inside a building.
